How to benefit the most from a visa consultation

Your meeting with a former visa officer is the most valuable preparation you’ll have for your visa interview.  Get the most out of it by following these tips.
  • Fill out the questionnaire as soon as possible.  The questionnaire is specific to your visa type and will provide vital information to your consultant about your situation.  This will help your visa officer prepare for your consultation in advance and will also save time during your consultation so you can focus on preparing your strategy and mock interviews:
  • Have all your documents prepared.  During your consultation, your former visa officer may ask you for the information included in your documents, so have everything on hand and ready.  This included immigration documents like your passport, I-20, DS-2019, I-797A, and I-601 (if applicable).  It also included financial documents like bank statements, investments, and real estate documents.
  • Come prepared with all your questions.  The former visa officers’ service is provided during live consultations, so you need to make sure to take full advantage of it.  Take notes, and record the audio of your consultation so you can review it later.  (We ask you not to record the video or share your consultation with any other parties.  The consultation is for you and you alone, and the information provided will not necessarily help anyone else.)
  • And very importantly, the visa applicant needs to attend the consultation themself. It’s great to help out a friend or family member by booking a consultation on their behalf, but your former visa officer will be able to help you best if we are speaking directly to the visa applicant rather than through a third party.

If you did not book your consultation yet, schedule your appointment with The #1 Team of Former U.S. Visa Officers here.
